2010 Yes its still 2010, I've arrived in the middle of December in time for the shortest day. Really not too short as we are below the arctic circle. Daylight begins at 10:15 and ends at 4:00 pm. If the sky is clear you can see the rays of the sun peaking over the mountains tops at the east end of town.

Winter solstice and the first time in over 400 years that there was an eclipse of the moon on the same night. Dawson viewers were lucky to have clear skys around 11 pm when the eclipse started.

dogs

These are my two dogs, Jack Black is my regular house-sit dog, and Nickey the white is the one I am house-sitting right now. Both love to go for walks. We are on the lookout above the non-existent ice bridge.

Because there is still a large lead of open water on the Yukon the yearly ice bridge has not been formed. People are crossing further up stream. No one knows if the Yukon will ever freeze up.
